Director: Munehisa Sakai (SuitePrecure)
Series Script Supervisor: Yūji Kobayashi (Smile Precure!)Producer: Umezawa Atsushi (Producer from Fresh Precure! to Smile Precure!)
To all those Sailor Moon fangirls who have been talking shit about precure during the last ten years:Muahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha….hahahahahahahahahaha… Look who is running Sailor Moon now.
I’m really not sure how to feel about this. I now fear that the new animation will look terrible, but at least they confirmed that it will be more so based on the manga. Still. I don’t want to see Sailor Moon looking like an under developed, bug eyed 10 year old.
What do you know about animation? most people like you automatically spew this empty words about about what good animation is or isn’t, believing it to be “modern” lightining effects or pretentious designs used in edgy stories/fanservice-shojo.
Before you utter a word against the TERRIBLE animation of TOEI, take a look at the immense amount of QUALITY animation in anime today, and then take a look at things like Kyosougiga, the best animated series of the past year, made by Izumi Todo (The Precure Staff)
Next time, wash your mouth out with soap before speaking about terrible animation, just like the original post said, the one thing you know how to do is talking shit. It’s not “talking shit” it’s not knowing much about the whole context…
Animation is a group of a lot of things.
First the animation quality depends on how much money will be spent and for the animators that will be hired to animate each individual episode. The character design is another different thing and has nothing to do with the ability of each individual animator.
The story depends on how well the Script Supervisor will transfer the manga story to the anime context. He will distribute episodes for Script writers and tell them what the story of that episode must have. I must add here that all the individual episodes that Yuugi Kobayashi wrote for the precure series were really well written. Some of them include awesome episodes:
- Suite 25:Hyuudoro! I Found Ellen’s Weakness!where we discover that Ellen is afraid of monsters
- Suite 29: Harahara! Treasure Hunting in Major Land! where the girls go after the healing chest and Crescendo Tone and have to fight a monster on the Evil Forest
- Suite 33 Howawa~n! Everyone’s Dreams Are the PreCure’s Powers!Hibiki enters a piano contest and all the girls are thinking about their dreams and why they really want to do (this episode is really beautiful and I always end up crying)
- Suite 38 Clap Clap Clap! A Mysterious Encounter Becomes a New Beginning! It’s Otokichi’s birthday, Ako meets Pi-chan (Noise) for the first time and we lear why Ako doesn’t want to sing, but in the end she wants to sing again and now I’m crying because it’s very emotional ç.ç
- Suite 42 Pikon Pikon! The Cure Module is Targeted! This is the episode where Trio the Minor cuses Waon and Seika to steal the Cure Modules.
- Suite 45 Buo~n! Can’t Let Noise Do What He Wants! After x-mas the precure head to Major Land to fight Noise, we learn about when Otokichi-san and Crescendo Tone fought against noise. At the end Otokichi was sealed by Noise, we all cry, and then Crescendo Tone is sealed and we cry again
I’ll not talk about all Smile episodes because it’s too much… but he wrote Yayoi’s first episode, Candy and Miyuki changing bodies and, most importantly, episode 41 where Yayoi gets her power up and she is trying to enter a manga contest. Why is this last one important? Because is the only episode where Yuuji was script writer and Munehisa episode director.
Munehisa as the series director will not direct every single episode, he will guide the whole thing and set the path and style that should be followed when transforming Yuuji’s story into individual episodes. He is the one that will have the most voice and power of decision over approval of visual styles, openings, endings, transformation and attack sequences, music and sound effects. I must say that he was series director of Suite and he did a pretty amazing job. Even though some changes in the plot were not so well accepted by some people on the precure fandom, he did the best with what he had in hands.
This is the first time that Yuuji is series script supervisor and Munehisa is already a successful director. If you analyze all the precure episodes where they’ve worked on you’ll see that they are very tallented professionals and that Sailor Moon is in very good hands.
