Okay! You post a lot of Princess Tutu and I was just wondering if you could kind of explain what it is and why I might want to watch(?) it

Clik here to view.

I WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO OBLIGE, ANON

1. the effort put into it. literally every iota of this series is filled to the brim with references. ballet references, classical music references, opera references, fairy tale references, you name it, IT IS INCREDIBLY CLASSY and you will more than likely even learn new things about the above. even mr. cat, the anthropomorphic cat who threatens marriage to his ballet students, is a reference. literally NOTHING is put there for aesthetic purposes or for shits and giggles, and you can tell just how much love and research went into this show if you pay attention hard enough.

2. the humor. i have watched this show upwards of over ten times and i STILL find myself cackling at the humor just as much as i did the first time. it is a rare show that proves to you that you CAN be funny WITHOUT EVER ONCE BEING INSULTING. to anyone. there’s are no jokes at the expense of anyone and you never have an involuntary laugh that makes you feel guilty afterwards or jokes that are just so offensive and bad that it makes you feel sick. it says “fuck you” to people who think offensive humor is totally legit and the only way to be really funny.

3. it is about the most feminist goddamn show i have ever seen in my entire life. women fighting for and gaining their agency! talking your feelings out as more effective methods of ending fights than brute force and weapons! women saving the men, women saving women, men saving women, men saving men, they are literally all on equal ground by the very end of the series! two women in love with one guy but become best friends instead of rivals! femininity is literally shown as the strongest and most effective trait! and the best part is that this show doesn’t try to take credit for it—there’s no painful pointing out LOOK A GIRL DOING THINGS WHAT THAT IS SO ORIGINAL LOOK AT HOW FEMINIST WE ARE no they simply give us a story and leave it to us to interpret what we do from it.

4. it’s perfect. the story, the score, the characters, i could go on about what i love about this show literally all night, but i don’t want to spoil anything. all i can tell you, anon, is that nothing comes close to the love i feel for this anime. i am in many fandoms but there hasn’t been anything that’s given me that rush and amazement i felt with princess tutu. this may be incredibly biased of me but i literally can’t find anything problematic about it. some people are left with the wish that it ended differently, but those people usually gave it a quick watch and moved on without really considering the events that transpired and what they meant. this is the show that i would not change a single thing about. it’s… just perfect!

if you do decide to give this show a go, anon, i hope you enjoy it!
