Not every Pokemon/ monster character has to be a modern depiction of a diety from ancient Sumer or an obscure real-life symbiotic relationship or a pun in six separate languages. Sometimes I just want a cool animal friend with an arbitrary magic ability. There’s no reason for Lapras to shoot ice except that it’s neat.
