Something I really appreciate about this particular character design in Valkyria Chronicles 4 is that I get the sense that someone on the team said they wanted this girl to have cat ears, because anime. And then someone else on the team said that’s stupid, because this is fantasy World War II-era Europe, and Valkyria Chronicles tends to be most successful when they go easy on stereotypical anime things. Then a character designer came in and said “look, I can make everyone happy” and designed a hunters cap with pointed flaps instead of rounded ones and suddenly you have a cat ear design that looks appropriate to the setting.
