i’m guessing that there are some fic writers out there today who haven’t gotten any appreciation messages. it just seems likely, yeah? and so i wanted to take a second to talk to you guys.
because i bet it kind of hurts, that you didn’t get messages. that’s okay, yeah? it’s okay to want appreciation and recognition for the stuff you’ve put time into creating.
maybe no one left you a message today. maybe you don’t get many reviews on your stories. maybe you feel like no one is reading your work and so you don’t know why you even bother.
bother. please.
please.
keep writing.
imma say that again:
KEEP WRITING
like in published works, most fic writers don’t have a huge following after their first posted work, or even their first several. they might never have a huge following! but here’s the thing: IT DOESN’T MATTER.
you need to keep writing because it makes you feel happy. because it challenges your brain to the point that you literally headdesk sometimes. because those story ideas won’t leave you the heck alone and insist on being written no. matter. what.
even if no one is actively appreciating your writing, keep doing it. it’s the only way to become better. and, for a lot of people, it’s a good way to stay sane. to find meaning in creation. to explore different perspectives and ideas and thoughts. it’s definitely not bad for you, so keep at it!
i can’t promise you that if you keep writing and become a terrific, top-class writer that you’ll earn a huge following. there’s no guarantees like that in writing. but i can tell you that when you improve, you know it. you feel it. and it feels fricking amazing.
so even if no one has sent you an “omg you’re my favorite author ever THANK YOU FOR WRITING” message today… i see you. i love you. please keep writing.
